FAQS

What’s the cycling like? We’d give the cycling a 3/5 difficulty rating. Whilst everyone will have different fitness levels, this is a great cycling challenge and achievable with relevant training. As noted in the registration form, a good benchmark is being able to sustain between 12-15mph for a couple of hours at a time. We design our challenges so that everyone can go at their own pace: this is not a race. If you have concerns about your fitness or if you have reduced mobility please do contact us for a confidential chat about whether this challenge is appropriate for you.

What’s the weather like? France in June is a bit like the UK and sometimes a tad warmer. Expect temperatures in mid twenties and long days with lots of sunlight. For warmer, summer weather we recommend, sunscreen, covering up, sunglasses and taking on electrolytes.

What’s the accommodation like? Our time will be split between 3-4* hotels. Hotels will be well-positioned for our convenience and comfort. Accommodation is on a twin-sharing basis. If you would like your own room, this can be requested as a single supplement at +£650pp.

What travel and transfers are included? You must organise your own travel to the start and onwards from St Pancras on the 5th of June. Ferry travel from Newhaven to Dieppe and Eurostar from Paris to St Pancras in included, but you must make your own way to Gare du Nord at least 90 minutes before the Eurostar departure time.

Do I need to bring my own bike? Yes, you will need your own bike, helmet and water bottles to do this challenge. We will organise return transport for your bike to meet you at St Pancras.

I have dietary needs, can they be catered for? Yes, please let us know in advance and on your sign-up form.

Can I drink alcohol? Alcohol is not provided as part of the package, however you can purchase drinks separately. You must not drink alcohol during the riding part of the day.

What do I need to pack? We will send a pack list nearer the time.

Are there bugs and mosquitos? Mosquitos are minimal, however, due to the climate there can be some bitey bugs around. If you are prone to insect bites, please bring repellent.

Do I need travel/bike insurance? Yes. We recommend you have travel insurance that covers cycling. Yellow jersey is often a good provider. It is sensible to also have bike insurance. and make sure you have an up to date EHIC/GHIC card to bring with you.

What if I need to cancel? Deposits are 100% non-refundable unless the ride is cancelled by Bike Where You Like or our local suppliers. If not already paid, the full cost of the trip will be invoiced 3 months in advance and is non-refundable 60 days before commencement. Please let us know asap at mel@bikewhereyoulike.com if you cannot make it.
